چکیده
Abstract Key message A method to segregate trees and logs of planted Eucalyptus nitens (H. Deane & Maiden) Maiden has been developed, showing that accounting for wood quality during the process segregation sorting timber resources allows recovery structural desired quality. Context Appropriate raw forest is necessary allocate different production streams, ensure achieved. Acoustic wave velocity can be used test logs, its use as a tool needs investigated prior development recover high-quality timber. Aims This study aimed develop methodology plantation E. obtain boards. Methods Forty-nine were measured, assessed with acoustic velocity, processed into 268 boards maintaining board, log, tree identity. Board stiffness was determined via testing ranked in grades. Linear mixed effect models predict board based on log variables, machine learning decision create Different options compared through scenario simulation. Results The prediction individual or variables yielded low coefficients variation due large intra-log variability ( R 2 = 0.22 0.28 variables). However, identified thresholds logs. When applied simulation, produced best results, resulting shares grades, traits yield larger higher timber, respect other scenarios. Conclusion from , support determine operational increase

Measured and predicted changes in tree and stand water use following high-intensity thinning of an 8-year-old Eucalyptus nitens plantation.
We investigated changes in the pattern of water use of an 8-year-old Eucalyptus nitens (Deane and Maiden) Maiden plantation soon after thinning. Sap flow sensors using heat pulse technology were deployed across three stands thinned to a final density of 100, 250 or 600 trees ha-1 plus an unthinned control (1250 trees ha-1). Changes in the relationship between tree size and daily water use were ...

In August 1990, a 2-ha plantation was established in an area where rainfall (about 515 mm year(-1)) was insufficient to meet evaporative demand. On nine occasions between September 1991 and April 1993, pressure-volume curves were constructed for irrigated and rainfed Eucalyptus globulus ssp. globulus Labill. and E. nitens (Deane and Maiden) Maiden trees. During the experiment, rainfed trees exp...
متن کاملElongation of Eucalyptus roots during day and night.
Root elongation was measured in mature Eucalyptus pauciflora Sieber ex Sprengel subsp. pauciflora trees in a high-elevation stand, and in seedlings of E. pauciflora and E. nitens (Deane & Maiden) grown in a glasshouse. Elongation of non-mycorrhizal roots (>10 mm long) was measured at 0600 and 1800 h on several consecutive days. Root elongation of seedlings of both species in the glasshouse was ...
متن کاملFloral induction in Eucalyptus nitens.
Eucalyptus nitens (Deane & Maiden) Maiden takes at least five years to initiate flower buds from seed and is an infrequent and light flowerer. Because this behavior constitutes a major impediment to breeding programs, we examined the mechanisms controlling floral induction in E. nitens, with the long-term aim of reducing generation time and increasing seed yield. Application of paclobutrazol re...

In 1990, a 2-ha plantation of Eucalyptus nitens (Deane and Maiden) Maiden was established in southeastern Tasmania and subjected to different irrigation regimes. Point dendrometers were installed in March 1995 to monitor radial stem movement every 15 min over several growing seasons. In this study, data from two growing seasons (1996-1998) were considered. From these measurements, daily increme...
